You win some, you lose some

The past week was a good one for us. We killed a bunch of people, harvested tears of those we killed and had fun in general. I enjoy this corporation because it’s the first time I actually like getting on TeamSpeak to talk to these guys and to form fleets with. The fact that my killboard stays in green most of the time is an added benefit.

The last 7 days started with our decision to go out and do more wormhole stuff instead of just dunking people through our nullsec. So the first thing we did when finding a citadel with a timer in our time zone was to park a scout in that hole and make sure people knew we’d go out to try and reinforce it when the time was there.

In the meantime we scanned our chain more than we usually did and found a few targets to kill. People rolling holes, people ratting in their hole with Domi’s and not having a scout on the hole.

One of the nights we had La Division Blue in our chain, they had two Myrmiddons parked on a hole and we knew they would have a fleet parked somewhere else. Because supposedly that’s what they do. We shipped into our T3 fleet and had an Armageddon go engage. They started to kill him so we jumped into the hole too to go and help him out, only to have a dozen remote-repping Stratios’ de-cloak on the other side. Time for a little fight. We had about 3 guardians with us and then the rest of the fleet. We did pretty well, keeping up the reps, they weren’t able to break us and we broke them slowly. But unfortunately they disengaged and fled with their tail between their legs. But they did lose one of the Myrmiddons so there’s that. It wasn’t a fight to the death but we did learn that our fleet composition was pretty solid so that was a good thing.

On the night of the citadel timer we went into our T3 fleet, Legions, Lokis, Tengus, Proteus’ and Guardians. All in all a very nice fleet. I was one of the guardians because I can’t fly the HAM Legion just yet.

Repping train, choochoo

We started the bash and before you know it two Thanatos’ and a Ninazu land on grid. We obviously decided that this would be our new target. So we switched, and because we’re nice people we told our alliance we had a few carriers tackled and asked if they wanted to come whore on it.

Cue a “battle” in which we repaired the enemies, our own pilots AND kept shooting a citadel, only so that our friends could come whore on the kills.
Unfortunately I couldn’t whore on them myself because my drones got bombed by the citadel. I should have waited with taking them out until the fight was almost done but I was too eager.

Not only did we kill them and reinforce the citadel. But in the meantime the alliance was suiciding a few T3’s on a citadel to keep that timer from running out. It needed to be killed too.
So as soon as we were done it was time to move towards the other operation. It was funny to see the timer stuck on 2second. And in the end we killed an Astrahus which dropped a few nice ships. Albeit with bad fits.

Who doesn’t love explosions

Unfortunately, all streaks come to an end and that’s what happened yesterday.

We decided on a new sort of fleet. Stratios’ + Legions to go wormhole diving. Due to me liking the legion but not having bought one yet, I decided to buy it. Only to lose it half an hour later. I have to admit that it stung. I lost that ship due to stupidity and it shouldn’t have died. But that’s life in EvE, you win some, you lose some. And with every loss, you learn something new. Luckily some of my salt washed away little under an hour later when we killed a few Gilas. They were badly fitted but still, a kill is a kill.

Goodbye little Legion, I hardly knew you

Bringing the party outside

One of the little things you learn to like about wormholes is the fact that every day, you’ll have a connection to somewhere else. Somewhere new to explore, meet the locals, and kill them.

The other day was one of those days. Having asked what we should do we decided to fleet up and go on a little roam in our Null-connection. It wasn’t too fruitful, I’m pretty sure we scared off the locals, they weren’t used to meeting new people.

We found a few people hanging around in space but they had a bubble around them or were on their way to somewhere else. A shame, we couldn’t catch anyone to exchange ammunition with.

Luckily that changed on our way back home. Turns out the locals were setting up a little welcome party, to make sure that we knew that we were appreciated, going door to door, wanting to say hi.

They were a bit off our home hole (phrasing?) so one of us decided he’d go say hi, you know, so that we could warp to him and get the party started. They had a few hurricanes, a few drakes etc etc, you know. The kind of stuff I should not be engaging with a hound. Since that was the stuff I was flying with since I only have a few hounds in our citadel. Oh, and a Proteus, I’ll get to that.

Turns out the welcome party didn’t really think about keeping us there, but luckily we did think about making sure that nobody could leave the party sooner (scrams, get it? I’m making it a bit more interesting). Thus our FC decided to bring out his Proteus, because what better way to use an expensive party ship, if you can leave before it gets rowdy.

This made me log on my other account and get in my Proteus too, it had been a while since I flown it, but last time I did I had fun with it.

This time was no different.

We came, we saw, we exchanged ammunition and fireworks. All in all, it was a good day. I’m looking forward to more of these.

Survival of the fittest

Another day another bit of ISK gained, or lost. Depends a bit on what you’ve been doing.

The past week I’ve been busy trying to make things work corporation wise. Spoiler: it didn’t.

With our recruitment drive we had the misfortune of getting the attention of wannabe spies/awoxers. And they’re easy to figure out, but unfortunately some don’t like the word “No”.

We had that certain someone invade our wormhole with some of his alts. Turns out he had more alts than we thought, we figured we’d bait him out. Have an epithal run between pocos and I’d follow in my cloaky proteus (starting to love that ship). Once he would decloak, I’d grab him and our third guy would come in to help on the kill.

All went well, up to the part where he decloaked, I did too and scrammed him. He was in a stratios. Suddenly, when he reached 50% armor, I had more red on my screen than what there should have been. Turns out, he had about 4 other alts in our system. Instead of one Stratios, I suddenly had 2 Nestors and a Guardian decloak around me. All of which locked me up and started to shoot me.

As a Proteus pilot, I have quite the tank, so it takes ages to kill me with drones, but doesn’t mean you can’t. Slowly moving away from them with my mwd on, I started aligning out.

They could have gotten me if not for the fact that they decided to target my friend’s bomber first. With one less web on me I was able to get out of range and was able to warp of. As you can see below, I barely made it.

EvE definitely gives me the shakes from time to time. This little rush is one of the best things about this game.

Nearly lost it

Unfortunately, despite the fact that we had a lot of interest in our corporation, had people our public channel and making new friends, we screwed up a bit with the whole recruitment drive.

We didn’t really think things true. Not knowing/remembering how much work it would be to actually do all of it. And instead of enjoying the game, it started to become a second job, logging in, logistics, trying to find things to do for corporation members. Note, this was only two weeks in and we already started to hate it.

So last week thursday we decided to disband the corporation and evacuate the hole. It was fun but we bit off more than we could chew once more. Luckily the new members understood and most of them were able to join one of the guys that we got friendly with in public chat.

But no big deal, onwards to greener pastures! I’ll more than likely be joining another wormhole corporation, I just need to decided which one.

Past few days

It’s been about ten days since I last wrote. Which doesn’t mean that I haven’t been doing much, I just didn’t really find any inspiration to write.

Mostly because I haven’t been doing anything very interesting. Or at least not really.

Wormhole space needs patience if you look for targets, which is something I don’t have, I am not going to wait on a site or stare at a hole for hours on end. No way will I submit myself to doing that.

So I do relic sites or combat sites. Scan down holes in the chain, move from one point to the other.. Whatever I can do to keep me occupied.

I’ve been trading a bit though, and I made myself a bit of a profit in the past week. Nothing compared to what I see other bloggers get. Not even close, I wish I did, I’m actually jealous of them doing that but also glad that they know what they’re doing.

Because in general, I don’t really know what I’m doing, I just get lucky. Last Tuesday I didn’t really make use of the Skill Extractor/Injector trading. In hindsight I probably should have done so but I didn’t. I did however make about 600m profit in station trading by noticing a bit of a price change happening on one of the items I trade in. So that’s nice.

Speaking of the injectors and extractors. I have read the opinion on these of lots of people. Some hate them, others applaud them, and more are neutral towards it.

I am neutral leaning towards the positive side of them. This has mostly to do with the fact that I do use the character bazaar. I used to want ISK, so that I could use it to buy a character suiting my skill need, I wanted to fly everything out there (as long as I could afford it). I have since then gotten off this sentiment and even got quite attached to E’dyn. However, this does not mean that I would not pay ISK/Euros/Whatever currency you have. To get a bit of a boost in my skill points.

I have an industry alt with more than 3million in SP in mining. I haven’t mined in years, and I’m not going to either. So I got myself 10 extractors, extracted it all and gave it to my wormhole alt. I know that due to doing it like this I have lost about 1m in SP, but honestly? I don’t really care about the loss, because I didn’t use it anyhow, and now, I used that SP that was never going to be used again. To perfect my Tengu skills and to train up my Proteus skills. Meaning that now I can not only do more damage in a Tengu, I can actually fly a Proteus. With just a tiny injection of skills.

Running Sites Tengu“So pretty”

I shouldn’t look at them too much though. They’re a bit of an addiction. I get why, I do. And if I allowed myself, I would buy injectors. But luckily I don’t like losing ISK. So we’re safe from doing that. For now

Did not see that coming.

The other day, after browsing the market a bit, I decided to check up on my wormhole PI ventures. I had noticed that my launch pads were filling up slowly and it was time to go and empty them.

Good thing that the entrance to our WH was marked about 7 jumps from where I was. That meant I didn’t have to do too many jumps in my trusty little Nemesis.

After getting in the wormhole and checking if nobody else was around I stored my Nemesis in the corps’ ship bay and took out one of our Epithals. When I cleared the second POCO I suddenly noticed an Abaddon on D-scan, I figured he’d be looking for me in the POCO’s so I jumped around a bit and cleared the last one.
Once that was done I quickly went back to the POS and took out my trusty Nemesis, warped to a safe, cloaked up and told my other corps members that there was an Abaddon in our hole. One of them was gas mining in a venture a few holes from ours and told me to search for him while he slowly made his way back.

As most of you know by now, I’m not that good at pinpointing, anyone, and I figured that the Abaddon knew I switched into a bomber so he must be jumping around himself, I didn’t want to take combat probes out so decided that it was time for me to try out the D-scan way of pinpointing someone.

Let’s just say that I failed miserably, in the half our of jumping around, readjusting the angle etc etc I did not find anything, yet he was still there. Once my fellow corporation member came in the hole in his Manticore, it didn’t take too long to find him. Turns out he was taking sleepers on in one of the sites. One of the places that I forgot about. Oh well, time for a strategy.

We were both pretty much newbies when it comes to bombing, but we figured we could try and kill him with bombs + torpedoes. Seeing that our hole doesn’t like armor tanks.

I slow boated my way to one side, the other one to the other and we waited at 30km for him to take somewhat of a beating. While waiting another one of our corp came online and we told him to come over, he wanted to try out something new so made a ship and was coming our way.
That tiny speck right there, is my target!
As he was two jumps from our hole, I suddenly see a Sabre on D-scan.. Warping exactly on the Abaddon, at first I thought it was a friendly of him, up until the point that he put up a bubble. A second after the bubble was up, three Proteus’ de-cloaked in it.
Well, that guy’s thinking: “Oh shit”

I was just staring there instead of acting, while my corps member had already de-cloaked and fired his bomb, a second after I did the same, we figured we might as well try and get in on the kill mail.
My bomb came in too late, and I have absolutely no idea how much damage I did to them but it was a pretty fun experience.
“Where did they come from?!”

It was quite a thrill too, to suddenly see T3’s uncloak on our target.

I went back there as they were slowly going out of the bubble and my corps mate did so too, we had decided to see if we could bomb the Sabre as they were still in the bubble, so about half a second after stating that, my corps member decloaks, fires a bomb and… Explodes.
I couldn’t help but laugh, turns out one of the sleeper turrets got him, his bomb didn’t even come close to hitting anything.
The guys that took the kill talked in local, asking us if those bombs were meant for them. Because if they were, they didn’t actually do much.. But all we really wanted was to get in on the kill mail, and maybe blow up that Sabre.

I didn’t get any kills yet this weekend, but at least I didn’t lose any wrecks either, and it was pretty fun.. I might go roam later this evening, I still want to explode things.
