From Wormhole to Nullsec: Writing the new chapter
“We should have done things in null ages ago”
As I said in my previous blog. In the past week and a half or so I moved over the rest of my alts and even my main to Nullsec.
This due to the fact that it was getting a bit annoying being spread over multiple holes and toons. So everything is now consolidated under one roof (well sort of, it’s in 3 different stations)
It helped though, we made it into the Pandemic Horde alliance coming from renters. While I can’t quantify the exact impact of our two-man team, bringing in 11 capital pilots and PvP veterans certainly can’t hurt!
We did a few small filament roams and tried some null PvP, nothing large scale yet. But it’s new and somewhat exciting.
I’m still constantly surprised by the sheer number of players buzzing around in local – a stark contrast to the empty tranquility of wormhole space.
As a wormholer it’s just weird to see people in local. Yes, we do talk to each other in there from time to time to say hello to another passing scout or even target. But in general, local is normally empty.
Same goes for d-scan, having stuff in multiple systems and whatnot, but local is the most confusing.
Nullsec residents also seem more trigger-happy than their wormhole counterparts. We’ve witnessed some rather impulsive attacks, often with questionable outcomes.
We’ve done a little Vexor fleet, a little experiment while filamenting. Take 20 Vexors, sit in an ESS and see what happens.
The first filament we did a Vargur saw Vexors and probably thought “Oh this is going to be easy”, which is exactly what we wanted him to think. Let’s just say that it was not as easy as he thought, although he did tank better than expected.
A few days after that we did the same thing, this time they sent a little fleet on us, however they sent one at 0 on us.
We could not escape, but not before a Khizriel died to a bunch of our drones.
ISK positive despite losing our entire fleet. Well, we would have been if not for the fact that our “major miner” forgot to jump to clones without implants in them.
Over the past month, I’ve also discovered a newfound appreciation for the industrial side of EVE. Production has been incredibly profitable, generating a cool 30 billion ISK in pure profit. Jump freighters have been a game-changer, eliminating the tedious multi-jump trek back to my home hole that was so common in w-space with deep space transports.
The biggest challenge of Nullsec, for now, is the abundance of friendly faces. Finding targets has become a bit more difficult, but I’m confident I’ll adapt.
While I may not be a huge fan of mining or ratting, I’m thoroughly enjoying the industry face of things, and I’m eager to delve deeper into the world of nullsec PvP.
Now that we’re in Pandemic Horde main alliance, I have access to a constant stream of fleet.
I’ll start joinng them to see how the nullsec lifestyle goes.
But I’m a wormholer at heart and I have already figured out that null will be boring if I stay in it too long. Which is why finding people to kill in there is something I’ll keep doing too!
Stay tuned o7
